Pole Bean Seed
Pole beans are preferred over bush beans by many because of their higher yield and generally superior flavor. Pole beans will often produce over a longer time than the bush types, but will fade in high temperatures. Bean seed should be planted about 1 inch deep in rows 3-4 feet apart. You can use single poles, pole 'teepees', trellises, or open mesh fencing to give the plants support. Best germination is achieved when soil temperatures are 70-90 F. SPECIAL CAUTION: Untreated bean seed is particularly susceptible to failure if planted in soil that is too cool or wet.
